Material Information
The official material designation is 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel. Some marine and industrial suppliers commonly refer to this material as SS318. However, SS318 is a trade or commonly used name rather than the official grade designation.
2205 Duplex Stainless Steel is magnetic, unlike standard 316 stainless steel. This is a normal characteristic of duplex stainless steel and does not indicate inferior quality or corrosion resistance.
Compared to 316 stainless steel, 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel offers significantly higher strength and improved resistance to marine corrosion.

Shackle Selection Guide
📝For most applications, choose a shackle one size larger than the anchor chain for proper fit and strength.
📝For G30 galvanised chain, a shackle one size larger will provide similar strength to the chain.
📝For G43 High-Test chain, a larger shackle is required for fit, although the shackle strength will typically be lower than the chain strength. A swivel may be recommended for higher-strength chain systems.
